What to expect

Very good hotel , staff were excellent . Cleaners did a lttle extra to make rooms homely . Reception staff even did a minor repair on my glasses and dining room staff were extremely efficient . // Reviewed 04/06/2013 Anonymous from Stirlingshire / Thomson Holidays - TUI UK //

Amazing value

This is the best hotel we have stayed at for value for money. It is shabby chic really but well loved and used. The staff are amazing and so kind and helpful. We never had a bad meal while we were there and the bar and entertainment were very good. in a good spot and on the flat for people with mobility problems. It really is well worth a visit. Second time we have been and already planning a third. // Reviewed 05/04/2013 Anonymous from Nottinghamshire / Thomson Holidays - TUI UK //

Good location and hotel

Have stayed at this hotel on a few occasions now and the location, food and staff overall are great. The hotel is beginning to look a little tired and dated now and could do with a refurbishment. However it would be a mistake to change the overall appearance and ambiance of the hotel by making the update too modern. The entertainment in the hotel was very poor and the quality of the acts, with the exception of the Spanish Dancers, was rubbish. Anonymous from Tyne & Wear. Reviewed 14/05/2013

Relaxing holidays

We stayed at the Pez Expada for 7 nights the end of March 2013. The hotel exterior looked quite pleasant. The reception staff were friendly& welcoming. Check in was swift. On entering our room 612 I was very disappointed. The initial impression was tired, dated and very basic. The carpet was stained and I wanted to leave. The bed looking uninviting was surprisingly comfortable The bathroom was fitted with a modern suite and tiled. The shower curtain track was dropping down at the end and a ceiling tile was cracked and falling low. When we walked the corridor some room doors were slightly ajar and I could see that the other rooms were basically the same so it would be pointless asking to move. We unpacked and decided to give it a go. Each landing has a couple of chairs and a table like a little communal area. The chair covers look tired and could do to be replaced as do the sofas in the main reception area. Comfortable but tired. That aside, we went to have our evening meal. The restaurant area is lovely. Beautiful decor and very pleasant waiting staff. The food was lovely. There was a good varied selection without being too much. Everything we ate be it at breakfast or evening meal was absolutely faultless. This seemed to make my feelings about the room a little less important. We met lovely people throughout the week although the main clientele was probably over 60. We are young coupleof 48 & 51. The evening entertainment was disappointing as it was mainly geared to the older people. Great if you can waltz or rumba. No good for us that like to have a good old dance though. It mainly consisted of spanish singers who could sing in English (just). Nevertheless some lovely people made us feel really welcome and we enjoyed their company no matter what the age. The pool was freezing and I didn't venture. My husband did dip in on the last day and almost came our numb. Not for the feint hearted. The location was great and on the promenade just outside you can walk miles (and we did). The beatuiful marina in Benalmadena was a favourite as was Paloma Park. We visited Nerja and Gibralta. The hotel Thomsons Rep Becky was lovely and always had time for you. The rep on the coach to Gibralta was very knowledgable and very pleasant. In all we had a lovely relaxing holiday and all said we would return to the Pez Espada if we wanted a relaxing holiday in the future and it is my diary to revisit in about 15 years. Probably still won't be able to waltz by then though Review based on a trip in March 2013 Reviewed 04/04/2013 Anonymous from Carmarthenshire/Sir Gaerfyrddin / Thomson - TUI UK //

Yet another excellent holiday at the Pez Espada

We have just. Returned from the Pez Espada after 2weeks hols, we stay at the Pez 3 to 4 times A year, we are treated like members of one big family, and we happen to see very many familiar Faces, all who keep returning. All the staff cannot do enough for us from the reception, Frankies, Restaurant and the ladies that clean the rooms. There is always a good choice of food in the Restaurant no one goes hungry. The location is second to none, straight out of the gate onto the Paseo with a lovely sandy beach, a great guy Salvador looks after many of the Pez Espada Guests, he charges 9 euros a day for 2 sunbeds and parasol. We loved a little boy called Ewen, So well behaved. We now look forward to going back in September. Bill and Gill from West Sussex (GillianB , Reviewed 14 June 2013 / TripAdvisorLLC)

Amazing holiday

This is our second time at this hotel and we loved it as much as the first. It is billed as a couples hotel and as we have a son with limited mobility we chose it as we felt it would be more relaxed - it was. The good thing is it still has a kids pool and a small number of children were staying. this meant they became closer than you would get at a mad kids resort. They were all very well behaved and the atmosphere there couldn't have been nicer. The staff are amazing. Special thanks to Bridgit the Entertainment coordinator who made our sons holiday when she let him win also at bingo on his last night. Also the waiting staff in the bar, especially the ladies who made our son feel very special. I know this is a very old hotel and it does need a little bit of an upgrade in the rooms, but to be honest I couldn't care if it didn't happen because it is very historic, the original features are amazing and the rooms are perfectly adequate and clean. I wouldn't recommend this to families wanting an action packed holiday with loads of kids entertainment, but for families who are happy to laze by the pool or got to the beach then its ideal. I am already planning our return visit. “Its worth paying for a garden view at least because you still get a view of the sea. if you have mobility issues there is a larger lift to one side of the hotel near the reception which doesn't service the other side. It may be easier to go this side.” (PHan1 Reviewed 10 june 2013// TripAdvisorLLC )

location excellent

The location is excellent right on the promenade, a five minute walk to carihuela which has lots of shops, bars and restaurants. A ten minute walk to the marina and about 15 minute walk into torremolinos.
