Excellent stay

Welcoming check in, comfortable room, good and varied food and entertainment, friendly staff and excellent location on the sea front. This was our third stay at the Pez Espada and are planning to return later this year

Our Stay at Pez Espada

Ok, this is a frank, fair and reasonable review of our holiday at Pez Espada. Ive got family here and Ive been coming to this area for 20 years or so. No, Pez Espada wasnt what I would call the perfect hotel if this is at all possible. It was however certainly up there with the best graded 4 star hotels, especially when you take into consideration what you are paying. We paid around £90 per night for half board room, breakfast & dinner and for this, I would say youre getting a great deal and the hotel satisfied pretty much everything you need. Yes, Ive stayed at better hotels, but in doing so, Ive also paid 2or3 times the amount to stay there. All things considered, would I pay 2 or 3 times more to get a slightly more finished hotel? Yes, but I wouldnt have come away feeling like Id got as much value for my money. And thats what its all about! Coming away like youve had good value for money as long as reasonable level of comfort was achieved of course. One of the things that seem to stand out out was the staff - not only were they helpful, but also really listened to what you had to say if you needed something. There seemed to be a little confusion as to whether your room fridge got refilled with soft drinks on a daily basis. I thought I had been told it would, but it transpired that this only happens when you first arrive there. Nevertheless, they gave me a one-off complimentary re-fill because of the confusion which I considered quite thoughtful regardless. The club room was good and our room in particular was position very well. The bathrooms do need some updating as theyre a bit aged but again, I would still say they were satisfactory just not what you would send a photo home of which is what I did on the room. We have been looking to go back in August of this year but unfortunately the cost does increase quite considerably, as it does with all of the other hotels, but the level of increase does not warrant the standard Im afraid to say nearly x3 the cost. I would be prepared to pay a little more at different times of the year but this did seem a little excessive. Unfortunately, this does seem to be the case with all of the hotels so if you want to stay in this area at this time, itll be a cost youll have to accept unfortunately. The pools are great - yes, theyre a little cold but so what! Man up, even if youre a woman get in there and literally within a minute you will have acclimatised and be thankful for the refreshing relief from the heat of the sun. My 4 year old, my wife all got in and it was just fine. The position of the hotel doesnt get much better and is a nice comfortable walk to Benalmadena or the opposite way to Torremolinos and lots to do and see on the way. Hire a bike in the first couple of days from the place on the Carrahuela walkway and see whats available for you to go and see during your stay - its a great way to give yourself a snippit of what there is to see and do, even if you just bike ride the Carahuela itself. Daily room cleans are ok. In our experience, they didnt really tidy much - just emptied the bins, made the beds and replaced the towels - I must admit, Ive had better but some people dont like their things being moved so in this respect its good - again room cleans were adequate though. The food is good and theres a reasonable variety. If the hotel was to ask me for any advice, I would say that if they could offer more additional access doors to the pool areas from within the hotel that would be greatly appreciated Im sure. It seemed quite a bit of a hike when you discovered you had forgotton a towel or went to get more sun lotion, but not a major complaint. The grassed area was a pleasant change to the hard landscaping you see at most hotels - a lot more comfortable. Overall, it was a great holiday. I wouldnt read too much into some of the reviews. I am quite particular and I like the nicer things in life and really this hotel pretty much achieves that - youre going to have a great time at this hotel and overall, youre getting more for your money here, than you will do at most of the hotels in the area. 1. Would I recommend? YES 2.

Relajante

Repetiremos.

PERFECT BREAK

WE STAYED AT THE PEZ DE ESPADA TO CELEBRATE OUR 49TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. IT WAS A MOST RELAXING BREAK. CANNOT FAULT ANYTHING. FROM THE MOMENT WE ARRIVED , THE CHECKING IN WAS FIRST CLASS, QUICK AND MOST EFFICIENT. THIS WAS TO SET THE SCENE FOR ALL THAT FOLLOWED. FOOD WAS UP TO WHAT I EXPECTED, THE ROOM, A CLUB SEA ROOM WAS COMFORTABLE AND QUITE SPACIOUS. ALL IN ALL WE HAD A FINE TIME. WILL BE BACK.
