During the first two weeks of February the streets of Salou will get filled with countless leisure activities during the festival Coso Blanco, one of the big events in Tarragona (Costa Dorada). The festival has its roots in the celebrations in honor of Sant Antoni at the time when the town was still segregated from Vilaseca.

According to the legend, the flagship event of the festival, the Coso Blanco started as a joke between friends who were throwing pieces of paper on each other. Today it is a consolidated act, which changes each year by adding new elements such as new participating groups, etc.

The events begin the weekend preceding the Coso Blanco with the opening home parties, and countless activities such as dancing in the tent, theater for children, concerts , parades, meeting giants, sports activities , appointment of  heiress (pubilla), Gralleros Songwriting Contest, Antonio Carmona performance … etc.

It is one of the most expected and joyful acts of the festival, the parade of Coso Blanco. At one point in Ciutat de Reus Street , the parade stops and starts a spectacle of sound, light and confetti inundate the streets.

Undoubtedly this is the most cheerful winter festival of Tarragona.
