On Thursday 26th April, the Med Playa group was awarded the Energy Sustainability and Efficiency Prize by Endesa after the process of replacing traditional fuel with natural gas at the Med Playa Calypso Hotel in Salou. This measure has meant an economic saving of 4,975.50 €/year and a 19% reduction in CO2 emissions. The award recognizes the Med Playa Group’s commitment to the future as a responsible company committed to the environment and innovation.

The efficient use of facilities and equipment is the cornerstone of the Med Playa hotel group. Through the active participation of the staff and the collaboration of the guests, they have managed to reduce the consumption of energy, water and CO2 emissions in all their establishments. It also works to reduce waste generation through ecological initiatives.

The award was collected by Mrs. Ellen Luppens, assistant director of Med Playa Costa Dorada, within the framework of the forum “Impulsando Tu Empresa” in Barcelona. The project, promoted by 11 large national and international companies from all sectors, aims to spread more innovative, practical and applicable business knowledge.

Med Playa, with headquarters in Girona, operates 16 hotels, mostly owned and distributed among various holiday destinations in the Mediterranean.
