Torremolinos and Benalmádena: family holidays

Benalmádena and Torremolinos are municipalities united by their promenades. You can walk from one to the other. In Benalmádena, the Castle of Colomares is a must to visit.  It is a recent and eclectic architectural fantasy dedicated to Christopher Columbus and his discovery. Inside, there is the smallest church in the world. Another place to enjoy with the family is the Parque de la Paloma. It is one of the largest in Europe. There are children’s play areas, a small zoo, restaurants, etc. In Torremolinos, in the Parque de la Batería, apart from the history, sport and leisure activities it offers the whole family, it has a huge lake where you can go for a boat ride and a very singular olive tree: the Árbol de los Chupetes. The children can hang their last pacifier there, together with a note or a drawing, and the Molino del Inca will surprise you with its fountains and waterfalls.  With the recovery of the 17th century mill, the area of Los Manantiales has been adapted and an impressive botanical garden has been created. There is also a Japanese garden and if you enjoy hiking, there are several routes. Some proposals are the Camino del Agua, the Cañada del Lobo or you can also walk along the long promenade. As for the activities organized for this late winter, do not miss the Carnival in either of the two municipalities or the International Dance Championship in Torremolinos or MueBT, between 22 and 28 February. Another of your options is to go sailing to see dolphins.

What to do in Malaga in February?

The historical centre of Malaga concentrates almost all the important monuments.  The Gibralfaro Castle is a fortification that stands on a hill and from which there are impressive panoramic views of the city.  Connected to it are the Alcazaba and the Roman Theatre. Nearby is also the Cathedral of Malaga, designed by Diego de Siloé. It is one of the most valuable jewels of the Renaissance in Spain. It is called the Manquita because it is unfinished: it lacks a tower. Malaga has several museums, exhibitions and activities for the whole family throughout the year.
