Although the Catalan capital offers incredible attractions for family tourism, we often forget that we can also take a break from our own holidays and go out and discover with our children what lies beyond the great city and its crowded attractions. Today we will learn about some ideal plans to do with children in the province of Barcelona.

Cim de Les Aligues in Sant Feliu de Codines

If you want to disconnect from the cities and be more in touch with nature, take a trip to Sant Feliu de Codines, 45 km from the Catalan capital. There we find the Cim de Les Aguiles, a centre for recovery and breeding specialized in birds of prey. Throughout the year, they organize several activities with the aim of making known the particularities of these majestic birds. One of the proposals is to observe the flight of these animals at a short distance, an experience that will fascinate the whole family. You can go by public transport from the city of Barcelona.

Montserrat

A list of alternative plans around Barcelona could not miss Montserrat. It is a more classic plan than an alternative one, but people travelling to Barcelona for the first time do not always include it in their route. Montserrat is a rocky massif very peculiar for its rocky forms located about 30 km away. In addition to hiking trails, you can visit the Sanctuary and Monastery dedicated to “la Moreneta”, the Virgin of Montserrat. Being so close you can reach it by public transport from Barcelona by train and take the “zip line”, a train that crosses 600 metres of slope and leaves you next to the Monastery.

Catalunya en Miniatura in Torrelles de Llobregat

One of the best excursions you can do with the family and make sure that all the members enjoy it is visiting Catalunya en Miniatura. Space, where there is the only circuit of scale models in Catalonia, declared to be of National Tourist Interest, which was created to show the most representative monuments and buildings of the Catalan lands. The little ones will love it. Why not say it? Adults too!

The whole of the Boí valley, the cathedrals of the Catalan provinces, the Park Güell, the Sagrada Familia, the Pedrera, the Casa Batlló,… are only some of the 150 buildings and monuments that the park has. In addition to visiting the model circuit, you can also enjoy the Bosque Animado, an adventure forest that invites you to get lost in the trees, climb a pine tree trunk or hang on a zip line. And to complete the day, the park also has other services such as a picnic area, bar, amphitheatre or playground.

Museu de la Ciència i de la Tècnica de Catalunya in Tarrasa

This municipality has a long tradition of textile production in Catalonia. And this industrial tradition means that this town has the Museu de la Ciència i de la Tècnica de Catalunya, located in an old factory that was in operation from 1907 to 1976. During the visit, you can learn about the wool making process, see some of the old machines in operation and immerse yourself in the daily life of the workers at the beginning of the 20th century, a journey back in time a few kilometres from Barcelona!

Sitges

In our list of activities, we could not miss a bit of beach and we propose you Sitges. Sitges is the destiny that never fails, success is assured. This town can boast a bit of everything: a fantastic film festival, a historic Gay Pride parade, one of the best carnivals in Spain, a very active nightlife and good beaches – the best of all? It is only 40 minutes away from Barcelona by train. Without a doubt, it is one of the best excursions from Barcelona.
